BYD Atto 3 charging times and battery capacity
Every figure below comes from BYD's own UK launch specification or the owner's manual. Where a number is worked out rather than published, it says so.
This covers the 2023–2025 UK car. The 2026 Evo is a different vehicle with a larger pack, and BYD has not published enough about it in the UK to put here yet.

The 30–80% window matters more than the 29 minutes
BYD quotes its rapid charging time from 30% to 80%. Most manufacturers quote 10% to 80%. That is not a small difference in presentation: the first twenty points of charge are the fastest part of the curve, so starting the clock at 30% skips the easiest work and produces a better number.
The practical effect is that 29 minutes cannot be compared with a rival's published figure unless that rival also measured from 30%. Almost none do. Read across a comparison table without checking the windows and the Atto 3 looks quicker than it is.
Where 60.48 kWh comes from
The owner's manual lists the pack at 150 Ah. Divide 60.48 kWh by 150 Ah and you get 403.2 V, which is the nominal pack voltage. The capacity figure is amp-hours multiplied by nominal voltage: a nameplate number, arrived at by arithmetic rather than by measuring energy out of a battery.
That is why this site never treats 60.48 kWh as usable capacity. BYD calls it rated capacity and does not say what fraction of it the car will actually give back. Any calculator that divides 60.48 by a charger's power is building on a number that was never meant to carry that weight.

The first line is the one that matters for cost. BYD's 6.5 hours at 11 kW means roughly 71.5 kWh passes through the meter to fill a pack rated at 60.48 kWh. You pay for the larger number. How that calculation works.
What BYD does not publish
No AC charging time for a 7 kW supply, which is what most British home chargers deliver. No onboard charger rating for the Active trim. Neither figure appears in the UK launch specification or in the owner's manual, and published figures that do exist for them trace back to secondary sites rather than to BYD.
Several charging calculators fill that gap by dividing 60.48 by 7. That produces 8 hours 38 minutes, and implies the car draws less energy from the wall than the battery holds, which cannot happen. If you see a figure near 8.5 hours for this car, it was divided, not measured.
